    Here we go! What’s more fun than going window shopping? Experience learning American Sign Language at four different locations in Rochester with Stacy and Jesse. Come with a basic knowledge of sign language and build your vocabulary, improve your respective skills and have lots of fun. Once registered, you will be sent a list of the locations.   • Asian Brush Painting: Continuing

    When executed with masterful technique, a single ink brushstroke is capable of conveying vitality, delicacy, and contemplation—the essence of Chinese philosophy and spirit. It is this “life force” or chi (pronounced chee) that the artist aspires to capture and express through brush painting. Unlike European-trained artists, those trained in traditional Chinese brush painting techniques do not try to create a realistic rendering of the external appearance of a subject, but instead seek to capture its inner spirit and mindfulness, which helps prevent dementia, promote longevity, and good health.     This course is perfect for everyone who is interested in exploring the amazing aquatic life found in Oceans, Lakes and even rivers. The Discover Snorkeling experience teaches you how to enjoy watching life below the surface and comfortably venture underwater for short visits. In this introductory class participants will learn how to choose, adjust and properly use skin diving (snorkeling) equipment, and basic safety guidelines for being in and around the water. If you want to explore further, you will learn how to take further instruction in the water.

You will learn about the “Clair Senses” that are types of intuitive abilities that correspond with the five senses of seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, and tasting and get a chance to explore your own personal gift of intuition. This session will include meditations, fun games and the opportunity to learn about or confirm your own intuitive gifts.

    In this class, students will learn traditional hand forging skills to make iron items typical of those found in 8th-10th century Norway. Students will make a fire steel, candle holder and Viking knife. Blacksmithing experience helpful, but not required. (See Introduction to the Forge). In this workshop, you will learn my famous ‘10 Minute Miracle Exercise’ series to strengthen lower body muscles quickly and, in the process, increase metabolism and bone density, decrease 2 inches off saddlebag area in 2 weeks, trim inches off lower body by getting rid of excess water weight, breathing technique to stimulate fat metabolism, acupressure points for lymph circulation and drainage. If you don’t have time/money/inclination to haul yourself to a gym several times a week, you will love these powerful and effective techniques.     The lands of Quarry Hill Park were once part of Rochester’s historic State Hospital grounds. Join other adults on a guided walking tour of the park to visit some of the interesting historic features that remain from a century of State Hospital use. For example, did you know that the hospital farmed over 1,000 acres and provided all the food required for all of their patients? From the cave to the cemetery to quarry operations, the history is rich and intriguing! We will cover about a mile and a half of up and down terrain. Participants should wear good walking shoes. Meet at the main nature center building.
